Research / Discovery
Peggy’s research has centered on technology interventions with community-based organizations, Internal Medicine and Family Medicine residents, and Chicago Department of Public Health clinic patients and providers. Health literacy and patient education interventions have been the focus of these interventions.

Every Block a Village Online www.ebvonline.org (Department of Commerce 1998-2000): A community health intervention with WebTV in the Austin community of Chicago.

Health Literacy www.fmdrl.org/ (HRSA 2000 – 2007) (search for Cassey): Interactive web-based curriculum for residents to increase awareness and skill sets to address health literacy needs of their patients.

Teaching / Learning
Peggy teaches Community Health Nursing and a special topics elective for Nursing Informatics. She has developed an Honors option for undergraduate community health nursing students incorporating synchronous and asynchronous learning activities with nursing students in Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines. As an outgrowth of the honors option, she presented an interactive Informatics lecture for 300 Nueva Vizcaya students via the UIC Saba Centra eRooms in February 2009.

Service / Practice
In addition to her faculty role and participation on multiple committees within the College of Nursing, Peggy serves as secretary on the UIC Senate Academic Services committee, Senior Counselor for the local Alpha Lambda Sigma Theta Tau chapter, and communications committee member of the Association of Community Health Nurse Educator's (ACHNE.)

By expanding the access through the use of a Yahoo Group, Peggy has opened the Philippines project to include additional interested parties. This interdisciplinary ubiquitous cloud computing option is available under the name of "gmfphcp" which stands for Global Medical Foundation Philippine Health Center Project.
