Teaching / Learning
Dr. Sefton has over 18 years of teaching and clinical mentoring in the Family Nurse Practitioner option, serving for 7 years as their program coordinator. Her teaching includes coordinating the graduate advanced health assessment course and she encourages all graduate students to continually practice those physical examination skills! She also instructs on primary care topics such as prenatal care, infant health, dermatology, musculoskeletal topics, pediatric cardiology, and clinical decision making. She has had the honor of being inducted into the UIC CON's Academy of Distinguished Teachers. Dr. Sefton has memberships in the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculty and the Illinois Society for Advanced Practice Nursing.

Service / Practice
Dr. Sefton has had over 25 years experience as an FNP. She has provided physical primary health care in a variety of settings, most recently for patients with chronic mental illness care through Integrated Health Care, a CON academic nursing practice. Dr. Sefton's practice specializes in caring for mothers with mental illness and their young children.
