Research / Discovery
Dr. Foreman is recognized as an expert in nursing care issues of the acutely and critically ill elderly. His research program to date has focused on describing the natural history of delirium, as well as delineating the pathogenesis and outcomes of delirium. Current work focuses on long-term outcomes, including the use of health care resources, and emerging work on prevention and treatment protocols for delirium.

Teaching / Learning
Dr. Foreman's research expertise is a basis for training advanced practice nurses at the master's level and clinical researchers at the doctoral level. Dr. Foreman taught "Nursing Theory and Development" (NUSC 506) to doctoral students every Spring Semester. He also taught coursework on responsible conduct of research and proposal development. He was project faculty to several institutional training grants. As Associate Dean for Nursing Science Studies, Dr. Foreman was responsible for pre- and postdoctoral training opportunities in the College of Nursing.

Service / Practice
Dr. Foreman is an internationally recognized expert on nursing care issues of the acutely and critically ill older adult, with an emphasis on the prevention and treatment of delirium. As such, he consults internationally with various health care providers. He is active in the American Geriatrics Society, the Gerontological Society of America, the Midwest Nursing Research Society, and Sigma Theta Tau-International.
