Research / Discovery
Dr. Lewis research interests have focused in the areas of nurse manager roles and HIV/AIDS prevention. Her current activity includes involvement in HRSA training grants focused on advancing public health nursing in Illinois and on implementing the Doctor of Nursing Practice.
Teaching / Learning
Dr. Lewis' teaches in the areas of public health nursing and administration. She has extensive experience in nursing education and curriculum development. Currently she provides leadership for the Regional Graduate Program in Rockford and serves as the Associate Dean for the College of Nursing 's clinical practice programs in the BSN, MS and DNP. Her time is divided between the Chicago and Rockford campuses.
Service / Practice
Dr. Lewis serves on the Board of Health for the Winnebago County Health Department as well as the Boards of the Northern Illinois Community Health Foundation and the Visiting Nurses Association of Rockford. She has served as a consultant to community organizations in the areas population focused assessment, program planning, and program grant applications. Other consulting and project work has included: management support, needs assessments, and staff development. Dr. Lewis has held active positions in numerous professional organizations.
Personal
She and her husband have two sons and two wonderful daughters-in-law. Their greatest joy is four small grandchildren, all girls, so she finally gets to buy all those cute outfits that the boys did not need. They love to ski in the winter and travel whenever they can.
