Personal
Last year, she was greatly honored to be chosen as the first Outstanding School Nurse Educator by the National Association of School Nurses. This recognition led her to the University of the West Indies as an external reviewer of their first BSN program that included school nurse curriculum adapted from the UIC online school nurse course work. She was energized by the desire of others to focus on reducing health disparities in the school-aged population. Her desire to work with others to empower children and young people to prevent health problems by making positive lifestyle choices every day has been increased.

Her husband, adult daughters, son-in-laws, elderly parents, siblings, grandchildren and Christian friends are a regular source of encouragement as she continues on the journey toward making a difference in how school nurses are utilized and how others view the career of nursing.
