Research / Discovery
Ms. MacSwain's professional passions are gerontological nursing and issues, end-of life issues and palliative care, lateral violence, and the public image of nursing.

Teaching / Learning
Ms. MacSwain teaches in NUSC 225 "Introduction to Clinical Concepts and Processes." She also teaches the foundations course for the GEP program, and she does clinicals with both undergraduates and graduates.

Service / Practice
Ms. MacSwain is an active member of Sigma Theta Tau.

Personal
Ms. MacSwain was previously at the University of Rhode Island, where she taught the foundations course and related clinicals. Her 40-year career in nursing has been split between teaching and practice in the fields of oncology, home care and hospice. She is passionate about teaching and learning and loves helping student nurses learn. She and her husband have moved to Chicago because her two children and two grandchildren live here and they won’t leave Chicago!
