The following information is provided with the intent to help young women with a life threatening illness and those who love them learn more about fertility preservation treatment options, support, and research studies. Please note that the references are not provided as an endorsement.

American Cancer Society

This is a major cancer related organization and the web site is exploding with information and additional links and resources. The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization. It is dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.

American Society for Reproductive Medicine

The American Society for Reproductive Medicine’s web site provides information, education, and advocacy for patients and also provides information and education for doctors, nurses, mental health professionals, and other professionals who care for patients requiring medical reproductive treatments.

Fertile Hope

The mission of Fertile Hope, a national nonprofit organization, is to provide reproductive information, support and hope to cancer patients and survivors whose medical treatments present the risk of infertility. The information contained on the web site reflects the organization’s mission. Additionally, Lindsay Nohr Beck, who is a two-time cancer survivor and struggled to preserve her own fertility in the face of critical cancer treatments, founded Fertile Hope in 2001. This site, constructed by Fertile Hope, is an easy to use online dictionary where terms related to reproduction, fertility preservation, and cancer are defined.

National Institutes of Health – Are Clinical Studies for You?

This web site addresses questions and concerns that individuals may have about participating in research studies. Information is discussed on a variety of topics such as: “Why Participate?” “About Informed Consent” and “Information for Healthy Volunteers”.

Planet Cancer

This informative web site is especially attractive to young adults with cancer. The purpose of this web site is to give young adults a place to share insights, explore fears, and connect with other young adults who share similar life experiences.

Young Survival Coalition

This web site is specific to young women with breast cancer. Information about connecting with other young women with breast cancer is available. The site promotes action, advocacy, and awareness about breast cancer among young women.
