Preceptor Opportunities


Become A Preceptor

If you are interested in becoming a preceptor for family nurse practitioner students, you will need to meet the following qualifications:

  • A masters degree in nursing.
  • At least two years of experience as a nurse practitioner

Please note that preceptors of UIC College of Nursing students hold an appointment as an adjunct faculty member of the University of Illinois. Adjunct faculty are appointed by the University of Illinois Board of Trustees as unpaid employees of UIC.

Once we have received all of your materials, we will contact you to complete processing. As a prospective UIC adjunct faculty, you must also complete UIC Human Resources (Nessie) information online and provide a brief letter of acceptance for our files. We will forward instructions how to complete these materials once we have received your application. After processing, you will be notified of your completed appointment via e-mail and contacted for your preceptor orientation.

Additional steps may be needed if you wish to open a UIC e-mail account or access UIC services. Please inquire about these steps with the FNP Program Administrator.
