Letter from Mi Ja Kim

October 2006

Dear Colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Academy of International Leadership Development in the College of Nursing, University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). The Academy was established in 2001 to promote leadership development of international nursing scholars through collaborative research with UIC CON faculty and training of post-doctoral fellows.

The Academy inaugurated its first program in 2002 with eleven Korean faculty scholars in 2002. In this program, all international scholars were matched with UIC faculty members who have similar research interests and expertise in the subject area.

The AILD has had the privilege of training of more than 45 short and long term scholars and practitioners from Korea since its inception.

Expected outcome(s) of the AILD for each international scholar are:

  • submission of an article to a reputable journal and/or developing a research proposal collaboratively.
  • creating a wide networking opportunities with other international scholars and students in Chicago as well as in the United States.

Any inquiries about this program can be directed to me.

Sincerely,

Mi Ja Kim, PhD, RN, FAAN
