Primary Health Care: AmeriCorps*National Direct – Chicago Health Corps (CHC)

Member Training

Following a two-week Pre-service Training, CHC Members are assigned to a community health center, social service agency or educational setting with supervision provided by that particular site. Throughout the year, in addition to their service, members receive ongoing training in health issues, cultural competence, community awareness, access to social services, and skill building, while becoming prepared to make a difference in health care. The CHC encourages a team-based approach towards increasing access to health care for those underserved. Members meet every other Friday for In-Services where they receive a range of health-related trainings and perform community service projects. In-Services promote an Espirit de corps for all members, as well as support throughout the year.
