About AmeriCorps*Vista

AmeriCorps*VISTA is a national service program dedicated to eliminating poverty by helping individuals and low-income neighborhoods make positive changes for themselves. The Chicago VISTA program targets poverty through healthcare service. Service is full time for one year with community-based organizations. Assignments may involve starting new programs, recruiting and training volunteers, writing grant proposals, seeking out sponsorships, planning community meetings, and other activities.

AmeriCorps*VISTA members come from different backgrounds and life experiences. Members may be recent college graduates ready for real-world experience, seasoned professionals making career transitions, or recent retirees looking for a place to apply their wisdom.
