WHO Collaborating Center: Minority International Research Training (MIRT) ProgramAbout MIRTFor years, the College of Nursing at the University of Illinois at Chicago coordinated international research training experiences in nursing science for minority baccalaureate and graduate nursing students and nursing faculty mentors. Funding for this program was provided by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Fogarty International Center. Faculty from participating World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centers for Nursing/Midwifery in the USA served as an advisory board to recruit, review and award meritorious applications/proposals. In 2007, funding for the MIRT program was discontinued, but the collaborative work that was done, and the resulting publications demonstrate the value of global partnerships.
