WHO/PAHO Collaborating Centre For International Nursing Development In Primary Health Care: Pan American Network of Nursing and Midwifery WHO Collaborating Centres (PANMCC)
Purpose
In 1993, the 11 designated WHO Collaborating Centres for Nursing and Midwifery Development in the Region of the Americas established a regional association that meets annually to strengthen nursing goals and activities specific to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) agenda. Now numbering 20 WHOCCs, the organization is known as the Pan American Network of Nursing and Midwifery WHO Collaborating Centres (PANMCC).
Mission
To advance the global cause of Health for All by conducting cooperative actions among the WHO Collaborating Centres for Nursing and Midwifery Development within the PAHO Region.
Goals
- Develop and implement organizational structure, processes and financial resources.
- Promote communication among and from the group.
- Promote joint action among the WHO Collaborating Centres for Nursing and Midwifery Development.
- Mobilize both internal and external existing and potential resources.
- Contribute to the development and strengthening of the Global Network of WHO Collaborating Centres for Nursing and Midwifery Development.
- Implement programs that advance the plans and resolutions of WHO and PAHO.
- Increase the influence of nursing in the formulation of national and international health policy relevant to Primary Health Care.
