Ways to Give
Endowments
Endowment gifts are among the most powerful and durable contributions one can make to the College of Nursing.
Create a Legacy
The endowment provides a steady source of funds to the College each year - now and forever. Creating an endowed fund gives donors an opportunity to put their name or the name of another person on the endowment in memory or tribute to him or her.
Leaving a lasting legacy for generations to come, donors choose how they want to make an impact including:
- Faculty chairs and professorships
- Graduate fellowships
- Undergraduate scholarships
- Program support
- Visiting scholars/lectureships
- Research support
A Lasting Impact
An endowment is a financial gift that provides an income in perpetuity for a specified use. Endowment gifts are held and invested at the University of Illinois Foundation, the official fundraising and private gift-receiving agency for the University of Illinois. The principal of the fund is never used and each year only the interest income that it generates goes to fund the specific cause at the College of Nursing.
Endowments are usually funded by a one-time gift or a pledge paid over a 5-year period, which ever is best for the donor.
Personal Connection
Each year, the University of Illinois Foundation will provide updates on the activity of the endowed fund. Donors to endowment funds will also receive the latest news from the College of Nursing with periodic briefings by the Dean and the bi-annual magazine, Vital Signs.
Many endowment donors choose to have a personal connection with the students or faculty that they support. For example, donors who support students are often able to meet with scholarship or fellowship recipients or learn in a personal letter how their scholarship or fellowship has contributed to the student's success in the classroom.
