Congratulations to Dr. Julie Zerwic who has been named the new Interim Executive Associate Dean, Dr. Mariann Piano who has been named the Interim Department Head, Biobehavioral Health Science Department and Dr. Tonda Hughes who has been named the new Interim Department Head, Health Systems Science Department.

Newly Funded Projects
Diana Wilkie and her team received an additional two year award from NINR for the Center for End-Of-Life Transition Research (CEoLTR) P30 as part of the federal stimulus funding.
Barbara McFarlin received a two year R21 from NICHD entitled "Biochemical, Biomechanical & Morphological Properties of Quantitative Ultrasound".
Carol Ferrans and Beth Calhoun (SPH, Co-PI) received a five year P60 Center grant entitled Center of Excellence in Eliminating Disparities. This is a collaborative effort with the School of Public Health.
Alicia Matthews received a two year R21 from NINR entitled Development of a Culturally Targeted Patient Navigation Curriculum for LGBT Adults. The study will take place at the Howard Brown Health Center.
Michele Issel and Kathy Baldwin received a five year HRSA grant entitled Keeping RNs to Improve and Strengthen Population Health (KRISP). They are joined by co-i's Judy Storfjell and Laura Szalacha.
Tonda Hughes, grant entitled Cumulative Stress and Hazardous Drinking in a Community Sample of Lesbians, NIH/NIAAA, co-investigators: Timothy Johnson, PhD Alicia Matthews (UIC); Laura Szalacha, PhD (Arizona State University); Sharon Wilsnack, PhD (University of North Dakota).
Lorna Finnegan, NCI RO1 grant entitled Symptom Cluster Subgroups in Adult Survivors of Childhood Cancers. Carol Ferrans and Dick Campbell are co-investigators.
Beverly McElmurry,
Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant for the purpose of improving physical activity in low-income communities.
