Peoria Regional Program

General Function

The function of the Director is to guide the development and implementation of a set of high-quality nursing education opportunities for students, assist faculty colleagues with their career scholarship and collaborate with aligned College of Nursing Department Head to manage and grow resources. This is a full time combined scholar and administrative permanent position with faculty rank appointment commensurate with rank and scholarship level at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Nursing.

Organizational Relationship:

Administratively, the Director shall be head of the Peoria Regional Program and be facilitated by and accountable to the Dean through an assigned Department Head (Department of Maternal Child Nursing).

Responsibilities:

Teaching/Learning:
  • Work with faculty to create and implement curricula that allow rapid and convenient access to nursing education.

  • Identify, seek and obtain or contract for instructional resources and clinical learning sites.

  • Oversee development and implementation of timetables, teaching schedules, and clinical site placements.

  • Implement academic and educational policies.
Student Support:
  • Assign mentor/advisors and monitor outcomes.

  • Manage student or advocate concern/issues when necessary.

  • Facilitate student leadership development and governance.

  • Create facilitative communication processes and modalities.
Faculty Development and Scholarship:
  • Engage in faculty recruitment, screening, appointment, orientation, evaluation, promotion and other aspects of career development as needed.

  • Encourage innovative nursing scholarship (education, research, and practice).

  • Facilitate the attainment of outside resources to support regional program activities in the form of grants, contracts, or gifts

  • Administer the UIC CON faculty practice plan as it applies to regional faculty.

  • Participate in the conduct of teaching, research and practice domains, as appropriate.
Operations:

Provide leadership in developing and administering cost-effective support services that involve but are not limited to:

  • Student recruitment, screening, admissions, retention, graduation and awarding of degrees.

  • Budget planning, approval, monitoring, managing and reporting.

  • Database management, analyses and information reporting regarding the business initiatives of the regional program.

  • Staff job recruitment, retention and facilitation.

  • Coordinate and assign space for teaching, research, practice and offices.

  • Oversee management and maintenance and change to facilities.

  • Align and negotiate contracts with outside heath care or educational agencies as necessary to providing appropriate clinical teaching, research or faculty resources.

University and Campus Relations:
  • Represent faculty and students at college, campus or university levels.

  • Collaborate with Associate Dean for Nursing Practice Studies on student, curricular and faculty teaching issues.

  • Collaborate with other UIUC or UIC disciplines in proximity.
Community Relations:
  • Facilitate the marketing plan for any regional education, research and practice programs.

  • Develop and implement plans for creating visibility for the regional program within the community and its surrounds.

  • Partner with community agencies for mutual gain.

  • Facilitate alumni relations in concert with Office of Advancement personnel.

Qualifications

Masters in Nursing and a Doctoral degree (preferably in Nursing), preferably three or more years experience in academia as Assistant Professor or above, with both undergraduate and graduate education. Administrative experience in academia and a record of innovations in education also preferred along with a focused area of nursing scholarship with evidence of publications in well-ranked journals and presentations.

Salary Range

commensurate with qualifications and experience
