About Us

We are researchers and advanced practice nursing faculty at the College of Nursing, University of Illinois at Chicago. In our academic nursing practice at our Integrated Healthcare Centers, we provide primary and mental health care for clients (members) of Thresholds, a leading psychiatric rehabilitation agency in metropolitan Chicago. Through our practice, we have learned that diabetes is a serious, debilitating disease affecting the mentally ill. When one of our clients develops diabetes, we know that not only must they continue to live with their mental illness, but they also must now learn how to manage a complicated, chronic physical disease at the same time.
