The Master's and Post-Master's Certificate programs only accept applications for the Fall term.
Application Deadline: February 1st
All materials including supplemental application, application fee, GRE scores, transcripts, and electronic letters of recommendation must be received by the application deadline. In order to give yourself and your recommenders enough time to complete the components of the Nursing Supplemental Application (see #3 below), it is strongly recommended that you do not wait until the deadline to apply.

A complete application includes all of the following:
1. UIC Graduate Application:

We recommend that you submit the UIC graduate application at least two weeks before the application deadline. Please be sure to enter a valid e-mail address in the application. This application requires a nonrefundable $60 application fee. Payment may be made by credit card when you submit your online application.
MS Applicants
For "Application Type" select: Graduate
For "Planned Course of Study" & "Major" select: MS Nursing-Region (Chicago, Peoria, Quad Cities, Rockford, or Urbana)
Next, click on the “enter other majors, minors, concentrations” tab at the bottom of the page then scroll up and for "Concentration" select your specialty
Dual degree applicants should apply to the following nursing concentrations:
-MS/Master’s in Public Health–Advanced Community Health Nursing
-MS/Master’s in Business Administration–Administrative Nursing
-MS/Master’s in Health informatics–Administrative Nursing

2. Official Transcripts:
We require applicants to upload a PDF (20 MB maximum) of your transcript to your UIC Graduate Application. You should prepare a separate PDF file for every college or university transcript that you attended. After you submit your UIC Graduate Application, you will receive an email within 1 to 7 business days notifying you that you may upload your transcripts under institutional requirements. Current and former UIC graduate students do not need to submit UIC transcripts. Students who have only completed undergraduate coursework at UIC must submit a UIC transcript.
After admission notification are sent, admitted students will be required to send an official copy of thier transcripts to the admission office.
3. Nursing Supplemental Application
Within 10 days of submitting your UIC Graduate Application, you will receive an additional e-mail from conapply@uic.edu with a personalized link to the Supplemental Application. A valid e-mail address when submitting your UIC application. Do not delete this e-mail. Be sure to check your "spam" and "junk" folders if the e-mail link hasn't arrived in your primary inbox. If you have not received the email after 10 day please email conapply@uic.edu. On the supplemental application you will submit your resume, essay questions, the email addresses of your three recommenders.
Applicants can check the status of their supplemental application and electronic recommendations by referring to the e-mail they received after completing the UIC application. If you are having difficulty finding the e-mail, search for “conapply@uic.edu” as the sender.
In preparation for the supplemental application, you can update your resume, review these tips and begin working on the following essay questions:

Master's applicants:
- Describe your reasons for pursuing graduate study. What are your short and long-term professional goals?
- Describe how admission to the master’s program will facilitate your long- and short-term goals.
- Describe your current practice role.
- Describe your experience with utilization of research (evidence based practice).
- What factors influenced your choice of specialty option?
Post-master's applicants:
- Why have you chosen this certificate program?
3b. Electronic Recommendations
Master's applicants are required to submit three (3) electronic recommendations.
Post-master's applicants are required to submit two (2) electronic recommendations.
In the supplemental application you will input the email addresses of your recommenders. After you press submit on your supplemental application, your recommenders will receive an email from conapply@uic.edu with a link to complete an electronic recommendation form. Your recommenders will complete the official recommendation via the emailed personalized link. Hard copies will not be accepted. Please note, recommenders cannot attach a letter of recommendation. For additional information, they should use the "additional comments" field on the form. Recommendations should come from those who can speak to your professional and scholastic abilities. It is preferred to have letters of recommendation from those with a graduate level degree. You can check the status of your recommendation letters by clicking on the link to your supplemental application link.
3c. Current Resume
You will be able to cut and paste your resume into the Nursing Supplemental Application. Do not mail in your resume.
4. Official GRE Test Scores
The GRE is (automatically) waived for applicants with a 3.25/4.00 cumulative GPA in their most recently completed (baccalaureate or graduate) degree. Applicants with less than a 3.25/4.00 in their most recent degree are required to submit official GRE scores by the application deadline.
- The GRE is never required for Post-Master's Certificate (non-degree) applicants.
- There is no formal request or application for the GRE waiver. Applicants who do not have a 3.25/4.00 GPA from their most recently completed degree should plan to submit GRE scores.
- The cumulative GPA is based on all course work completed for the most recently completed degree and will not be recalculated (see official transcript for final GPA). Courses completed after the most recent awarded degree cannot be used toward qualifying for the GRE waiver.
- No preference will be given during the application review process to applicants who qualify for the GRE waiver and have submitted (or plan to submit) GRE scores.
- Applicants to the MS/MBA joint-degree program are required to take the GMAT. Only applicants to the MS/MBA who do not qualify for the Nursing GRE waiver may submit GMAT scores in lieu of the GRE

5. International Applicants only
TOEFL is required for applicants whose native language is other than English with a minimum score of 550 (paper based) or 213 (computer based). For the TOEFL ibt scores, the minimums are Writing-21, Speaking-20, Listening-17, Reading-19 and total score-80. Please note that TOEFL scores over two years old are invalid. For the official IELTS, a minimum total score of 6.5 is required, with sub-section minimums of Listening-6, Writing-6, Reading-6 and Speaking-6.
For postsecondary coursework completed at an institution outside the United States, applicants must request a Full Education Course-by-Course Report evaluation of foreign credit from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS).
For licenses in a political jurisdiction other than one of the United States, applicants must also request the Validation of Registration/License Report from CGFNS. Upon being recommended for admission, evidence of financial support for the first year is also required.

6. Joint-degree applicants only
Applicants who wish to apply to more than one degree program must submit a
separate application for each department involved, even if applying to an
approved joint degree program. Applicants applying to more than one program
should indicate on all applications submitted that they intend to pursue more
than one degree at a time. Only one application fee per term and only one set of
transcripts is required for applicants applying to more than one graduate
program.
7. Scholarship Application (optional):
Graduate scholarship applications will be available in January and are due March 1st of each year. Students applying for scholarships are also required to file a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form with the UIC Office of Financial Aid and submit a copy of their SAR (Student Aid Report) with their scholarship application.
8. Interview with Faculty
Qualified applicants will be contacted for an interview. Applicants must be available to meet with faculty on the interview dates listed below.
