Undergraduate & Graduate Scholarship Descriptions
Advanced Education Nurse Traineeships
Awarded based on availability of funds and guidelines determined by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the College of Nursing. Students must be enrolled full-time (unless in final year of program) and be a US citizen or permanent resident and admitted to a degreed program. Full or partial waiver of tuition and fees provided, but no stipend. Cumulative traineeship support may not exceed 36 months.
Board of Trustees Tuition and Service Fee Waivers
Provided by the Graduate College, this award is for full-time and part-time tuition and service waivers for MS and PhD students. Students must be enrolled as a degree candidate and not hold a waiver from any other source, including an assistantship, fellowship, or other university employment and must remain in good academic standing.
Boothroyd Scholars Program
Awarded to undergraduate and graduate students based on academic merit and financial need. Preference given to students from underrepresented groups.
Emily C. Cardew Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduates of junior or senior status who exhibit high scholastic achievement.
Lisa Corsini Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduate nursing students enrolled at the Urbana-Champaign campus. Preference is given to students whose legal residence is either the State of Illinois or Italy. Preference is given to students that demonstrate a passion for nursing, financial need, and academic merit.
Dorothy J. Dethloff Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduates based on financial need and academic merit.
Marguerite A. Dixon Scholarship
Awarded to an African-American PhD student in good academic standing.
Irving Harris Scholarship
Awarded to graduate students in the Department of Maternal-Child Nursing who demonstrate financial need and academic achievement and whose studies will ultimately improve early childhood development. Undergraduate seniors enrolling in pediatrics or maternity for their NUSC 390 practicum may be also be considered for an award, funding permitting.
Gloria A. Henderson Scholarship
Awarded to an undergraduate of junior or senior status enrolled at the Chicago campus with high scholastic achievement and exhibited leadership in extracurricular activities.
Gold Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to nurse midwifery students.
Regional Nursing Scholarship
Awarded to regional campus students.
Elizabeth M. Roche Award
Awarded to graduate students in good academic standing.
Van Doren Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduate and graduate students who exhibit academic achievement, financial need, and leadership.
Kathryn Venolia Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a senior with an outstanding academic record and contributions to school and/or community.
Nurse Faculty Loan Program (NFLP) The Department of Health and Human Resources Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) provides UIC with funds for graduate student loans which cover tuition, fees, and other related educational expenses. The funds do not cover living expenses. After graduation, students must seek full time employment as a faculty member in a school of nursing. Upon completion of four years of employment, HRSA will cancel 85% of the principle and interest on the loan.
