IBHE Improvement Grant for UIC CON Urbana

Abstract: The UIC College of Nursing on the Urbana-Champaign campus is the only UIC regional site that includes a baccalaureate program. To reduce the nursing shortage and serve the needs of our community, we increased our pre-licensure enrollment by 34% in 2009 on the Urbana campus. As a result, we have severely overloaded the capacity of our current nursing skills laboratory. Funds from this grant will be used to improve clinical laboratory space and purchase the equipment needed to adapt the learning environment to include clinical simulation exercises for nursing students.
