Lifelong Learning and
Educational Access Program (LLEAP)

What is LLEAP?

 • LLEAP is a program that provides eligible employees release time, flex time, and/or funds for educational development purposes for a career at the University.

• Through LLEAP employees have the freedom to participate in educational development activities of their choice that extend beyond mandatory training needs.

• Units can play an active part in shaping LLEAP within their setting by working with their vice chancellor's representative to define standards and appropriate guidelines which comply with LLEAP objectives.

Who is eligible for LLEAP?

• Permanent non-faculty academic and open-range civil service support staff employees at the University have been permanently employed at UIC for at least one year as of July 1.

• Benefits of LLEAP are available to employees with less than a 100% appointment on a prorated basis.

• Employees who have filled out a written request detailing the funds, time, and equipment needed.

How do eligible employees participate in LLEAP?

• As part of the program’s policy of shared responsibility an employee must make a formal request to utilize LLEAP benefits. An official Employee Request Form is available through this website.
