Admission Information
We invite you to apply to the National Science Foundation-funded ASCEND (Assuring STEM Credential Expansion through Nurturing Diversity) Scholars Program. ASCEND is designed to support incoming freshmen in STEM majors: biological sciences, chemistry, earth and environmental sciences, engineering, mathematics, physics, and psychology.

Program Stipend
Students who fully participate in ASCEND receive a stipend for $400 for attending the five week summer component and an additional $100 for completing the fall semester seminar. Research stipends are available to those who participate in the ASCEND research experience.
*Acceptance to the ASCEND Scholars Program is contingent on a signed letter of intent, however, students may apply to ASCEND once accepted to UIC.
