Film Night! Refrigerator Mothers

- From the 1950s through 1970s, children with autism were widely thought to be victims of inadequate parenting. Influenced by psychologist Bruno Bettleheim, mental health professionals claimed that autism was the product of mothers who were cold, distant, rejecting, unable to "bond properly." They were labeled "refrigerator mothers." In Refrigerator Mothers (53min) by David Simpson, J.J. Henley, and Gordon Quinn, seven women share their stories. These women refused to be crushed by the burden of blame.
Film Night! F**K the DISABLED

  CCSPD presents the film F**k THE DISABLED and Greg Walloch , actor, author, and performer. F**K THE DISABLED is part documentary, part concert film and part traditional comedy starring New York stand-up comedian Greg Walloch. Greg's act is based on his being openly gay and disabled. Following the film, Greg will conduct a Q & A with the audience.
