Approval of Minutes from 1/19/07 CCSPD Meeting

• Need to add name of notice from ACDC report
• Approved unanimously

New Business

• CCSPD Brochure - Peter/Annie
  • Draft of brochure passed out to members
  • Need to get permission to use photos and paintings
  • Need to convert to pdf to have a website version
  • Need to post accessible version
  • Members will be sent printing estimate for approval
  • Need to add important contacts to back of brochure

Old Business and Reports

• ACDC Committee - Larry/Drew
  • Meeting Followed up on 97-1 notice
  • 97-1 needs to be redrawn to affect access and universal design
    • Complete notice no longer in use
    • Some steps are used but not formalized
  • Goal is to go beyond ADA to Universal design
  • DRC should hire someone who’s responsibility is to review access instead of project managers
  • Roxana mentioned grad student being hired to look at data of online reporting
    • Want to make online reporting more interactive
    • Moved unsatisfactory closed cased to open
  • Description of SRC access problems need to be clarified in January minutes – some common areas on floors are not accessible
• Survey Sub-Committee – Carol
  • Expansion of sub-committee
    • This will expand expertise
    • March 6 – elect a co-chair
      • Open to someone outside of CCSPD
    • Timeframe will be discussed in next meeting
    • If members were not notified to join and are interested, e-mail Carol
    • Provost is eager to get together
    • Others will be invited to sub-committee meetings, so don’t feel left out if not apart of sub-committee
    • Survey will be expanded to non-students
      • Provost would like to see a climate survey

  • Email announcement with flier should be placed on listservs
  • Reminder will be emailed to get count on who will be attending
  • Will not be using MOU for CDB because of copyright issues, will be using different contract

• Will meet next Friday to discuss contact form and other changes and will email committee
• Want to make the site more creative by adding pictures from events
• Suggestion made for member log-in
• Minutes will continue to be added to site
• Office of Access and Equity Report - Caryn Bills
  • Online reports transferred to DRC
  • Continued support to Roxana during transition
• Disability Resource Center – Roxana
  • Cleaning up Office
  • In need of more space
    • Have looked at other buildings
    • One building (old jewel) was in poor shape
  • Some supports are working outside of office due to space limitations
  • Working on 2008 budget
    • Budget development w/ help of Steven Zawadzki
  • New assistive technology specialist is a good resource
  • Library project is beginning (UIC accessible libraries for all)
  • Working on access maps
    • Looking at other universities as examples
  • Accessing UIC
    • Mass mail to students and faculty
    • Provides information on disability issues
  • Starting a deaf club with the help of PhD student
  • Roxana believes the transition is moving forward and getting better
    
  • Would like to transition document conversion to library and get trained for Braille
  • Roxana will meet with co-chairs to discuss transitional committee
