Meeting called to order by Peter Berg.
Approval of Agenda: approved unanimously
Approval of Minutes: from 11/28/06 will be changed and sent out via email to be voted on
New Business:
- DRC Discussion with Roxana, Janet, and Peter
- The advisory committee will be a sub committee of CCSPD and will be composed of Roxana as a Chair and there will also be a Co-Chair from CCSPD
- The advisory committee will first develop a model for the DRC and then discuss transition
- Roxana wants to include people on sub committee who are knowledgeable of UIC functioning
- Need to know what members expectations are so that members can be sought out and they will know how much work is expected from them
- Roxana would like to include Disability Studies as members
- Special Education department may be a good place to seek members as well – may be helpful with student transition ideas
- In order to gather diverse information committee should have a representative interview students, staff, ect. from various departments and also invite them to advisory committee meetings
- Model should include outside resources such as state funding and programs
- Students are the priority of DRC
- Motion to charge on putting together advisory committee approved unanimously
- Executive committee’s task is to name Co-Chair
- Chancellor’s Response to Letter –Chancellor responded
Old Business and Reports:
- ACDC Committee- Drew
- Tool for surveying was discussed that will check university access - will have report on tool next month
- Want to update 97-1, Request for Estimate and Renovation and Remodeling Services - hope to recommend someone to be responsible to review
- Brought up SRC to show the lack of commitment to universal design
- New construction
- Some floors have common areas that are not accessible
- Program Committee- Peter
- Want to bring Cheryl’s Dreaming Big as event in March
- Founded by psychiatric system survivors
- Stories as venue to change systems
- Very powerful
- Educational discussion following performance
- Going through process of reserving rooms for event
- Problems with movie night
- DVD’s copied- wrong format for player
- Tech staff didn’t have expertise to solve problem
- Improvement of attendance through marketing earlier and to other organizations

- Committee received documentation of closed and open cases
- 133 closed, 24 open
- complaints from 2003
- not a formal grievance
- Joy motioned that there needs to be warnings sent out and that people need to be informed of formal grievance options
- Discussion of online accessibility complaints – needs to be alternative access while sites are being made accessible
