Teen Pep is a highly successful peer education program dealing with all types of abuse to
adolescents with particular emphasis on date rape and dating violence. The presentation will be
led by the two adult coordinators along with four high school students.
The coordinators will provide a description of the mechanics of the Teen Pep program which is
for adolescents by adolescents. Discussion will take place regarding the importance and success
in disseminating valuable information to teens using peer education.
In addition, the coordinators will share their experiences in training junior and senior high students
to be mini-experts in the dynamics of abuse and leading interactive discussion. They will provide
tools for empowering and enabling adolescents as well as training teens to train themselves.
The four high school students will give a demonstration of the Teen Pep program as they present
it in their schools. They will cover the entire continuum of abuse as well as communication in
dating situations. They will use role plays followed by interactive discussion with program
participants. This will be fact paced and energetic with much dialogue between teens and adults.
The TEEN Pep program is funded by The Toledo Hospital with a mission to reduce the incidence
of teen pregnancy and dating violence through values clarification, peer education and support.
