Most people who come from alcoholic or dysfunctional families were never allowed to do self-rescue behaviors. We were not taught how to set effective (physical, emotional, or sexual) boundaries; learn how to pick trustworthy people; feel high levels of self-esteem; or handle our feelings in a function manner. These healthy, functional behaviors were seldom role-modeled.

This workshop is designed to help us recognize and understand the art of self-rescue in depth and in context of functional, healthy living. We will focus on not only the ability to "take care of ourselves but to be able to know when and how to rescue ourselves out of unhealthy, destructive, and dysfunctional situations and relationships.

Participants will focus on the causes of non-self rescue behaviors; defining and recognizing self rescue behaviors and skills in order to be able to teach clients how to implement self rescuing into their lives through the therapy process.

Goals or Expected Outcome for Workshop Participants:

1. To understand to cause of non self-rescue behaviors.

2. To have an understanding and working knowledge of what is self-rescue.

3. To understand effective versus ineffective self-rescue behaviors.

4. How to teach employees, clients, or co-workers self-rescue behaviors.

5. Acquisition of concrete, new skills.
