Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) is a sub-set of crisis intervention. It is a group process with specific phases and educational processes.
This presentation will review the history of CISD and critical Incident Stress Management. It will identify the differences between debriefing done for "rescue" personnel and "victims." Information will be provided to participants that will help define CISD, identify when and how it is used, and demonstrate, through the use of video, the methods used for conducting and debriefing.
About the presenter: Dotty Mayer is a licensed clinical social worker who has conducted numerous debriefings for victims of disaster, rescuers, and employees of hospitals, banks, and major corporations.
