Designing a Professional Development program for your Agency that Meets the Needs of the Staff

There is a need for ongoing professional development and training for counselors in agency or educational settings The workshop will address how to meet the training needs in an agency setting. Additionally we will explore options for individually who wish to obtain additional relevant professional training options. 

Strategies for obtaining training options will be explored including a list of relevant training procedures Workshop attendees will have the opportunity to discuss their own strategies and success in exploring and obtaining relevant training. The presentation will include an essential component on the search for meaning and other philosophical and self directed options for increasing personal motivation.

Workshop attendees will be provided with a framework for determining the training needs of their employees. This will include a needs assessment, climate monitoring, implementation and follow-up. Non supervisors in this session can use this information to assist with personal development and communication skills enhancement.  This model will stress the techniques and importance for viewing training programs as ongoing and not just an event.  Various theories for understanding human behavior in the organizational context will be presented and discussed.  An opportunity for discussion of pragmatic concepts will be explored by the workshop is for participants to increase their knowledge of the benefits of receiving ongoing training and how to obtain the development opportunities in an organizational setting.
