The Mobile Crisis Team of Mental Health Services, Inc. utilizes professional staff members to provide services to
adults and children who are in need of mental health crisis services 24 tour per day, 7 days per week. The Crisis Team
provides mental health Information and Referral Hotline and Crisis Intervention services, A mobile outreach team is
available to complete assessments in the community for individuals that are identified as "at risk'".
A recant study by the Cuyahoga County Mental Health Research Institute found that adults with severe mental illness
are more likely to avoid hospitalization during a psychiatric crisis when they receive services from a. mobile outreach
team, rather than from an assessment at an emergency, room.
When a severe disturbance of mood or thinking threatens a person's safety, the Mobile Crisis Team (MCT)
professionals go to where the person is, conduct a clinical assessment, and provide the clinical services needed to help
the parson effectively address the crisis situation Our goal is to help the consumer more effectively manage their
individual crises without resorting to hospitalization,
For those at risk for harm, MCT can facillitate an admission to inpatient psychiatric services. For others who need
supervised treatment and support, MCT can arrange for an admission to one of two community crisis stabilization programs.
For individuals who can remain in the community, your crisis workers and psychiatrists have the capability to provide
initial arid brief follow-up care that is customized to each individual's treatment needs. This capacity tea provide brief,
intensive crisis intervention services to those who remain in the community allows us to support arid monitor the
individual through their crisis without the need of an inpatient admission. Upon resolution of the crisis situation, MCT
links the person with a community healthcare organization that can provide the on-going services the person needs to
minimize the likelihood of future crises.
MCT provides services to over 14,000 adults and children per year. Each day, an average of 40 individuals call or are referred to MT for service. Of those, MCT provides face-to-face services for about 10 new clients each day, in addition to providing follow-up services to clients whom they have had earlier contact with.
