Faith-based Initiative

In partnership with the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH), CPHP is assisted in the development of five lay health ministries in the Lawndale community. Church clergy in Lawndale expressed an interest in information on weight management and diabetes; problems that affect a significant number of church attendees. CPHP provides nutrition training focused on healthy lifestyles and nutrition-related disorders using specific information from the Take Charge of Your Health curriculum. Nutrition teams provide onsite training and assist in implementation of the initiative.

UICNI launched its Faith Based Partnership Initiative in January 2003 with the New Westside Federation of Churches. This initiative focuses on 15 West Side churches of the 100 represented by the Federation.
