What is CTN?

The Collaborative Teacher Network, supported by a federally funded Institute of Education Sciences (IES) research grant, is designed to enhance middle school teachers' content area reading instruction to improve the achievement of students with disabilities. Members of the Collaborative Teacher Network will work collaboratively with general and special education teachers at their school and with teachers from other Chicago area schools who are also teaching content (science, social studies, and math) to middle school learners with disabilities. Teachers will learn about evidence-based content area reading strategies designed to enhance students’ access to the general education curriculum. They will use their students’ literacy artifacts as a vehicle for their own and collaborative inquiries as well as planning instruction.
