Building the Global City: Leadership, Infrastructure and the Urban Future
Mayors from around the world will discuss building the global city of the future, including the role of leadership in creating the infrastructure to meet the needs of their citizens.

Afternoon Breakouts

Session One: Transportation and Development
Panelists will examine how major metropolitan transportation projects impact a city's development and sustained growth. They will discuss the local and regional environmental and economic implications of these projects, including their costs and benefits to the citizenry. They will also closely examine how collaboration between public and private interests affects the ultimate success of these projects.

Session Two: Open Space, Tourism and Recreation
Panelists will discuss the role of open space and tourist and recreational infrastructure in shaping the identities of cities. They will examine how the infrastructure of play molds the images of cities among tourists and impacts the social and economic lives of residents. They will also discuss how these initiatives are financed, and how they contribute to the "greening" of a city.

Visions of the Future City
The Forum will conclude with a plenary session devoted to "visions," in which panelists will offer unexpected and breathtaking vistas of the potential future forms of cities, including an Olympic Chicago.
