A: FROM MENTEE KATHRYN T. IN VA
How science, engineering and technology figured into my summer:
Since I am an athlete and have been getting recruited all
summer by various coaches, I have had to figure out what colleges
will offer me the most stimulating science courses and still
allow me to participate in a Division 1 lacrosse program.
I have been pouring over college catalogs where I will possibly
attend so that I can make an informed decision by October.
The fun part of technology has been to have lots of time
to e-mail my friends, something that is limited during the
school year. I have also used the internet to plan trips to
lacrosse tournaments by finding less expensive hotel rooms.

A: FROM MENTEE KELLY B. IN PA
Yes, this summer I attended a camp called SMART Girls
in Williamsport,
Pennsylvania. We had a lot of fun exploring different SET
related careers
including a nanofabrication facility in State College, Pennsylvania.
We
learned a lot and it was very educational, when I got home
I even showed
some of my neighbors the things that I got to experience.
We we also on a
local TV station while we operated heavy machinery.
