Q: (Initially posted on 8/26) FROM MENTEE CATE A. IN MN
This summer, I went to the NHSI (National High School Institute) theatre
program in the design/tech concentration. I had a fabulous time! We did
all sorts of SET kind of stuff, building sets, hanging and programing
lights, running the light and sound boards for the shows, and we even made
Comedia del Arte masks!! I know some of you are interested in the arts as
well as SET and theatre is a great career that combines the two in many
ways! If you have any questions about my summer or theatre feel free to
email me at: GEM-SET@uic.edu

Cate, it's so nice to hear you recognizing interconnections between
technology and the arts! While it's true that choosing to do one
thing does limit the possibility of doing everything else, many
activities can be very multifaceted and can use a person's broadly
diverse talents and interests. More power to you!
