Dear gem-set,
I was wondering, are there many fields of science where you
get okay pay
(not a lot but enough to get by) and without using a lot of
math, because I
hate it?!

Hi, Lauren! Here are some ideas for you.
1) Social Sciences like Psychology, Communications, and Anthropology
do not
require a great diversity of math skills, you mainly need
a knowledge of
statistics. If you are interested in Information Technology,
you could
pursue a degree within a Business College or department such
as Management
Information Systems or Business Information Systems. These
programs require
much less math than Computer Science programs do.
2) Usually the more rigorous the math requirements for a field,
the greater
the salary and employment opportunities. Also, basic math
competence and
confidence can enhance your life in many ways. I suggest that
you look into
computerized Math programs that can make learning Math fun.
The learning
approach is often very different than school Math teachers
take. Plus you
can learn without fearing embarassment from classmates and
others. Many
confirmed Math-haters have learned to turn around their ideas
about Math
when they received a new type of instructional approach. A
friend of mine
finally conquered her fear of fractions by playing her son's
VideoMath game.
Good luck
