Rachelle, If you are a freshman or sophomore, I would say it is too
early to start applying for scholarships. Most first-time scholarships are
awarded to in-coming college freshmen, and you need to be a high school
senior in order to apply (some may let you apply as a junior, but that is
hard to say).

In your junior year of high school I would recommend you begin to looking at
what scholarships are available (they may be offered by local organizations
(such as the Lions Club, Rotary, etc. and my be a one-time award (maybe not
even math, science, or Tech specific), or professional societies (scanning
web pages for these organizations is usually helpful in seeing what types of
awards they offer, getting application, and determining application
deadlines).

Talk to your guidance counselor, she will be able to point you into the
right direction. In the fall of your senior year you should probably begin
the application process. I would venture to say the most deadlines are in
the early spring of your senior year, if you plan to start college in the
fall.
