A: FROM MENTOR JOAN LUSK IN
RI
I think we should all contribute to a composite "top
10" list, like
one of George Carlin's funny ones! I'm going to leave this
e-mail
open all day and add things as I think of them. So the list
won't
necessarily be in order of importance.
1. fire
2. agriculture
3. the wheel
4. writing (should spoken language count as an invention?)
5. window glass/other building materials
6. weaving
7. electric motors, electric lights
8. engines - steam, internal combustion (predating electric
motors)
9. eyeglasses
10. antibiotics (and other medicines)
11. sewer and water systems (more important to health than
medicine!)
12. the printing press
13. oh OK I give in: computers. Word processing. Spreadsheets.
The internet.
14. transistors
