A: FROM MENTOR MAYLING WONG
IN IL
I have only been a mentor with GEM-SET for a few weeks. However,
I have
been a mentor for a high school student since the beginning
of this
summer. The reason I became a mentor was to simply share my
experiences
with someone who might travel the same path I did. Perhaps
the mentee can
learn from my experiences. It turns out that I benefit from
the
relationship as much as the mentee learns from me in that
I learn from
someone who is of a different age, gender, and race. Mentoring
is great
fun - I hope you may benefit, either as a mentee now or as
a mentor later
on.
