Q: (Initially posted on December 27, 2002) FROM MENTEE CHRISTIE O. IN WA
It isn't summer until a several months from now, but I am thinking ahead and am curious if there's anyone who would know what summer programs there would be that are available to 16 year olds? I am looking for a good academic but fun structured summer program to join. It could be somewhere within Washington State or even out of state or abroad.

A: FROM MENTOR JONI BLAKESLEE IN WA
There are several programs available through community colleges and
universities in Washington state. Continuing education programs at
community colleges offer technology courses that may be of interest to you.
There are also many activities sponsored through youth organizations. You
are correct to be thinking about this in advance as availability is limited
and the programs fill up quickly. There is a summer Digi-Girls camp as well
as competitive internships for those in high school and college, sponsored
by Microsoft.
