A: FROM MENTOR AIMEE WILLOZ
IN MN
In general, I think that technicians have a 2-year degree
or less. If
you're interested in getting a 4-year degree, Computer Science
or Computer
Engineering might be more what you're looking for. There are
lots of good
schools for those majors. If your interests do really lean
towards being a
technician, a two-year degree would be helpful, but I'm not
sure whether or
not it's generally required. I'm not very familiar with the
training
needed for technicians, but I did find some information on
the web. I did
a search using google.com for "computer technician",
and I found a few
websites that I think will have useful information:
http://www.comptia.org/certification/a/default.asp
-- also, if you click
"Get Training for A+" on this website, it will take
you to a page that has
links to information about what courses are needed and where
you can take
those courses.

If you're not sure whether you want to be an engineer or a
technician, this
website might be interesting:
http://www.ndt-ed.org/Careers/TechvsEng/techvseng.htm
Hope this information is helpful!
