Q: (Initially posted on January 3, 2003) FROM MENTEE TAMARA

I read that only 500 milligrams of calcium can be
absorbed at a time. Is this true for any other vitamins
or minerals?

A: FROM MENTOR DESIREE BUTTER,
MD, IN PA
Calcium absorption varies by age, amount ingested and interfering
substances. Because calcium is absorbed so slowly, no more
than 500-600 mg
is suggested at one time. More detailed information can be
