Q: (Initially posted on January 13, 2003) FROM MENTEE CHRISTIE O. IN A
Is there a place I could go to find out what different types of jobs are
out there in the web design/technology field? Or is there someone that
can list them at least?

A: FROM MENTOR NANCY WHITE IN WA
Web Design
Check out your local chapter of Webgrrls, an association of women working
in web/design fields. Often local chapters have meetings where young women
are invited to hear stories of what it's like working in the field and have
opportunities for internships and job shadows. They also maintain a job
bank for members. http://www.webgrrls.com/

Technology
There are a number of groups that support women in technology. Check out:

Women in Technology International http://www.witi.org/index.php

If you are in Western Washington, http://www.ignite-us.org is a group of
women in technology reaching out to high school girls to share what it is
like to work in high tech.

Institute of Women in Technology http://www.iwt.org/

For a more specific niche of communications technology,
http://www.umbc.edu/cwit/ - Center for Women and Information Technology

Women in Technology http://www.womenintechnology.org/

There are TONS more. Search on women and technology on google and you will
have a great trail to explore.
