Q: (Initially posted on February 7, 2003) FROM MENTEE BECKIE S. IN KY
What courses should I be taking to help me further my career in physical
therapy?

A: FROM MENTOR ANGELA SKAGGS IN KY
You need to take courses such as Chemistry, Biology, and Anatomy and
Physiology. Try to learn as much about the body as you can before you go
to college. The beginning physical therapy classes will be much easier
for you if you take these courses I have mentioned above. Also, if you
know someone in your area that is a physical therapist talk to them
about allowing you to job shadow them for awhile. You could get to
observe them in action. Getting prepared for college is one of the most
important things you can do while in high school. The better prepared
you are for college courses, the better your grades will be, which in
turn will increase your chances for acceptance into a physical therapy
program. Good Luck!
