Q: (Initially posted on February 5, 2003) FROM MENTEE REBECCA
Z. IN CA
I have a telescope, a mead model ETX-60AT, and I have been
unable to really
get it to work correctly. I was wondering if anyone has any
suggestions of
how to use it or where in the bay area to go where I can try.

There are several ways you can proceed to learn to use your
telescope. First, have you followed the directions in your
owners
manual? If there's something you don't understand, ask an
adult to
help. Meade sponsors a forum on the web at
http://www.astronomy.net/forums/meade/.
With your parent's
permission, you could submit a question and other users of
Meade
equipment will answer it. Perhaps there's already an answer
to your
problem posted there. Finally, many astronomical societies
sponsor
star parties where members bring their telescopes and invite
the
public to view with them. You could bring your telescope to
one of
these events and the nice people there will be happy to help
you set
up your telescope. Look on
http://www.astrosociety.org/resources/linkclubs.html
to find a club in
your area.
