Q: (Initially posted on February 11, 2003) FROM MENTEE KAREN R. IN NJ
I wanted to know if I should take anatomy next year in h.s (I'm a sophomore), and I want to be a veterinarian. So will that help me to make my decision about my career? And what about Marine Biology?

A: FROM MENTOR MARSHA SEGEBARTH IN INDIANA
Anatomy would be extremely helpful! I teach human anatomy and physiology in college. Many of the exercises we do in lab involve animals. I encourage you to take A & P. Marine biology would also be fun for you! Have you decided what you want to major in in college? Will it be a straight pre-vet major? Have you considered majoring in biology? Veterinary programs often admit biology majors in addition to pre-vet majors. You might find you very much enjoy biology after taking all you can in high school (which I would recommend).
