Hi,
I want to get an internship job for the summer 2003 in the
architecture field, I wonder if there are any opportunities
for me around the Oakland area?

Hi Bao-
We had trouble finding internships in the Oakland Area. However,
the California Chapter of
the American Planning Association may have some jobs that
are of interest to you. See the posting at http://www.calapa.org/students/jobs.htm.
Also, the University of California, Berkeley had an interesting
career page on architecture. I did not have time to investigate
every link. But if you do a bit of research, you may be able
to make contact with someone through UC-Berkeley that may
be willing to help you out. See their web page at http://career.berkeley.edu/Architecture/Architecture.stm.
Tell them that you are in a mentoring program that encourages
you to connect with professionals, especially women, in the
field of architecture.
When you call for more information, be ready with well thought
out questions and answers about internships. Do you want a
paid internship or are you willing to volunteer? How many
hours per week will you be able to commit? Have you had any
internships before? Reply to GEM-SET@uic.edu. I'd be interested
in hearing about your past internship opportunities if you
have had any. THANKS!
