Q: (Initially posted on March 13, 2003) FROM MENTEE TELA J. IN TX
I was wondering, do you offer internships for high school students in any technology fields? Please write me back. I am very interested.

A: FROM MENTOR PATTY PATTERSON IN TX
Raytheon in North Texas (Dallas, Plano, McKinney, and Sherman) offers a
great engineering internship program open to high school seniors upon graduation.
It targets seniors who have been accepted into an accredited major
Engineering or Computer Science University, with the intention of majoring in
electrical, mechanical, computer engineering or computer science. The expectation is that you would also transition into the co-op program, to return for work terms during your
college years.
The application process includes a resume, an essay written by the student,
and a letter of recommendation from a high school math or science teacher. You
are also required to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5 in college (on a scale of 4.0) to
remain in the program. Applications for seniors graduating in 2003 is March 17. For
further information, or to submit an application, you can contact our Student Programs Manager,Joanne Shatto, 972-952-2701 or shatto@raytheon.com.
