Q: (Initially posed on April 30, 2003) FROM MENTEE ELIZABETH A. IN C0
Would I have to take Physics for the Bio Tech field that I have chosen to be my career choice?

A: FROM MENTOR SUZANNE FRANKS IN KS
Yes, almost any SET field is going to require at least one physics
course.
For sure you will need it at the high school level and you will probably
have to take at least one physics course as an undergraduate in college.

A: FROM MENTOR JOAN LUSK IN RI
You'll probably have to take a year of physic for a bio or biochem
major. If you were interested in designing new equipment you might
need more than that. But the basic concepts of physics underlie how
molecules behave - the forces between them, their energy levels and
consequent spectra (visible, UV, NMR) - all sorts of things that
biotech makes use of. You want to understand these phenomena and not
just be memorizing a few definitions and equations.
