Q: (Initially posted on June 16, 2003) FROM MENTEE ROSANA O. IN PA/NJ
What new jobs or inventions exist in Engineering, Science, and Technology?

A: FROM MENTOR LORI KANE IN MA
A great source for technology inventions is MIT's Technology Review:

One relatively hot new field I've read about lately is computer forensics.
This involves using computer investigation and analysis techniques to
solve crimes or find potential legal evidence. For example, a computer
forensics specialist may look through a user's computer hard drive or
e-mail to find information that may be used as evidence. They may also use
their technology skills to combat computer viruses or hackers.
I've read about several colleges in the New England area adding courses in
this area to computer science programs. Some schools are even creating new
majors and certificate programs in computer forensics.
